Virtual developer events

I plan online meetups, workshops and launches that developers want to attend, from the format and agenda to the follow-up.

Good developer events show instead of pitch: live code, real questions, and something people can try right after.

Price
€85 per hour plus taxes*Events vary a lot, so I estimate the effort per scope and we agree on it in the proposal.
Format
Online, in English or German
You get
A ready-to-run event plan and follow-up material
On the day
Hosting or moderating, if we agree on it
How taxes work

For clients in Germany, 19% VAT is added to the invoice. For clients abroad, I invoice the net amount and you account for the tax in your own country, for example through reverse charge. Please make sure your business can do that.

Is this for you?

A good fit if one of these sounds familiar

  • You're launching an API, an SDK or a major version.
  • Your community talks in forums but has never met.
  • You want regular office hours without reinventing them every time.
  • Your last online event had a great speaker list and an empty chat.

Formats

Pick the format that fits your goal

Launch event

Show what's new with live demos, and send people away with something to try.

Hands-on workshop

Attendees build along from a prepared starter, with help in the chat.

Community meetup

Short talks from your community, with room to meet each other.

Office hours

A recurring format where developers bring their questions to your team.

What it looks like

An agenda built around doing, not slides

An illustrative agenda for a one-hour launch workshop. Every block ends with something attendees can see or try.

  1. 0:00
    Welcome and why it matters

The problem in one slide, then straight to the code.

  2. 0:05
    Live demo

From an empty folder to a working result.

  3. 0:20
    Build along

Attendees follow a prepared starter, with helpers in the chat.

  4. 0:45
    Questions

Collected during the session, answered live.

  5. 0:55
    What's next

Links to docs, the recording and the next event.

How it runs

From goal to follow-up

  1. Step 1

    Goal and audience

We agree on who the event is for and what they should be able to do afterwards.

  2. Step 2

    Format and agenda

I plan the format, the agenda and a run sheet for the day.

  3. Step 3

    Speakers and demos

I help speakers shape their talks, prepare their demos and plan how to handle it gracefully when a live demo goes wrong.

  4. Optional

    On the day

If we agree on it, I host or moderate the event and guide attendees through it.

  5. Step 5

    Follow-up

Recordings, links and next steps, so the event keeps working afterwards.

Done before

At Adobe, I ran developer events for UXP and led the developer office hours format. Later, as a freelancer, I did a four-part livestream series for the Adobe Developers channel: The UXP to Adobe Express Migration Journey.

What former colleagues say

What's not included

Being clear about scope is part of the deal.

  • Event platform licences and other third-party costs
  • Paid promotion and advertising

Common questions

Which platforms do you work with?

I know YouTube Live, Zoom and Zoom Webinars, and RingCentral Events well. If you already use a platform, we'll use it.

Can you host the event, too?

Yes. Hosting or moderating on the day is part of the project when we agree on it in the scope.

Can you plan a series instead of one event?

Yes. A recurring format like office hours is planned once, so your team can run it on its own.

Do you also plan in-person events?

I plan the programme: format, agenda, speakers and talks. Venue, catering and other logistics stay with you or your event team.

Planning something for developers?

Tell me what you'd like people to do after the event, and we'll work backwards from there.
